Census In Schools

The U.S. Census Bureau is proud to present "2010 Census: It’s About Us", a FREE education program we’re sending to every principal in your district. With units leveled for grades K–2, 3–4, 5–6, 7–8, and 9–12, the 2010 Census program will provide teachers with lessons that meet core standards and feature fun skill-building activities in map literacy, graphing, reading, writing, and civic responsibility.

We have worked hard to identify schools in historically "hard to count" areas. Many students are missed in the census count, thus negatively impacting many programs your local schools participate in. The results of next year's census will figure directly into allocating over $400 billion dollars annually for the next ten years for programs in our state. Your local districts benefit from everyone in your community filling out and returning the census questionnaire. The system only works if everyone is counted, regardless of age, race, or citizenship status.

The U.S. Census Bureau is prepared to assist you in reaching out to students, their parents, and your staff about the importance of the census. Our Central Texas Partnership Team serves as a local resource for educators. Educators are trusted voices in their communities and can help deliver the 2010 Census message to their students across the nation. Congratulations Superintendent Davis and the Board for passing a resolution in support of the 2010 Census.
